The high level of security of the email solution helps the healthcare facility to cope with strict security regulations, including NIS 2 requirements.
PRAGUE, November 7, 2024 – GFI Software, a provider of enterprise network security solutions, said that Břeclav Hospital celebrated 20 years of trouble-free operation with GFI KerioConnect email solution. Users and administrators alike perceive Kerio Connect as a friendly and reliable communication tool that meets current and future standards for secure communications. The solution was delivered to the Břeclav Hospital by MCS plus, a supplier of technical equipment for offices, households, schools and government.
GFI KerioConnect is deployed on both the mail server and client side. It is used on a daily basis by almost 350 users, mainly in a local PC environment with the possibility of remote VPN access to mail for key users. About 3,300 messages flow through the e-mail server daily, mainly in the context of administrative communication (excel spreadsheets, PDF documents, etc.). E-mail is mostly used for communication between employees, with external communication accounting for about one third.
The main benefits of the solution include ease of use of the software and the ability to access mail from third party clients such as Outlook or web access from web browsers. Administration is also easy from the point of view of administrators, who can maintain a high level of security thanks to Kerio Connnect compared to open source products, for example. Kerio Connect includes features such as encryption, two-factor authentication, auditing, logging and more, which help both in reporting to the grantor and in meeting general standards, including the NIS 2 directive.
“The GFI KerioConnect solution has been working perfectly and seamlessly for us for the past 20 years, we basically don’t even know about it,” said Ing. Michal Ragan, MBA, Head of the Department of Hospital Informatics and Telecommunications, Břeclav Hospital. “The positive thing for us is that, regardless of the time since its deployment, it has been able to meet the increasingly demanding security and compliance requirements of the stringent standards in the healthcare industry.”
